Why this estimator is different from an operator's

Every charter operator that publishes an online estimator prices only its own fleet, and it's structurally motivated to either quote high (protecting margin) or quote artificially low (capturing your contact information, then upselling once you call). This estimator prices a cross-operator range built from published category rates, not one company's fleet, and it's not trying to capture a lead before showing you a number.

What actually moves the price

Aircraft class is the biggest lever by far, moving the hourly rate anywhere from roughly $2,000 to $23,000+. After that, flight time and trip type (one-way charters routinely carry a hidden repositioning cost that round trips avoid) matter most. Daily minimum billing, commonly 2 hours per leg, means a short hop still costs the minimum. Overnight crew fees apply only when your trip keeps the crew away from base.

How accurate is this estimator?

It models a real range built from published, cross-operator hourly rates by aircraft class, plus the federal excise tax, daily minimums, repositioning, and overnight crew fees that operators often leave out of a bare hourly quote. It's not a live quote from a specific aircraft on a specific day. Treat the output as a solid planning range, then get an itemized quote from an operator before booking.

Why does the price range change so much when I toggle repositioning?

If the aircraft you'd charter isn't based near your departure airport, the operator has to fly it there empty first, and that empty leg's cost usually gets folded into your quote. The estimator models this as roughly 35% of one-way flight cost when the toggle is on. Ask any real operator directly whether their nearest aircraft is close to your origin; it's the single biggest lever on a quote that a bare hourly rate hides.

What isn't included in this estimate?

Landing and handling fees, fuel surcharges, catering, ground transportation, and international permits or customs fees aren't modeled here, they vary too much by specific airport and route to estimate honestly. Ask any operator to itemize these before you book.
